Three former SC Republican
Party
Chairmen
Endorse
Carroll Campbell for Congress
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 12, 2010
Charleston, SC – One week after Henry Brown’s retirement announcement, momentum is building for the Campbell campaign.
Today, three prominent former Chairmen of the South Carolina Republican Party all came forward to endorse Campbell as the best choice for Republicans to hold the First Congressional District seat.
In endorsing Carroll Campbell, former Republican Chairman Greg Shorey said, "Carroll is like his father, former Governor Campbell, in that he will fight for jobs in South Carolina. He will work to re-build South Carolina’s economy, encourage job growth, and oppose regulations that hurt small business. We need that kind of leadership to improve South Carolina’s economic outlook."
Van Hipp, South Carolina Republican Party Chairman during President Reagan’s term said,
“Carroll Campbell will be a strong grass roots conservative, pro-small business voice in Congress,” as he offered his official endorsement.
Former Republican Chairman George Graham in giving his endorsement said, "Carroll Campbell is pro-life, he opposes Nancy Pelosi’s government-run health care plans, he opposed the stimulus spending and that makes him the kind of leader we need in Congress representing South Carolina."
The three former South Carolina Republican Party Chairmen join other Republican donors and leaders who have moved to Campbell in the last week.
“I am humbled by the outpouring of support I have received,” said Carroll Campbell in responding to the endorsements, “It is critical for Republicans to hold onto this seat so that we can counter Nancy Pelosi’s agenda in Congress. I look forward to being a strong, conservative voice for the people of South Carolina in Congress.”
